MSTC, initially a subsidiary of SAIL, became an independent company under the Ministry of Steel in 1982. It operates in two major business areas: procurement of industrial raw materials for the steel industry and providing a virtual marketplace for trading metal scrap and other surplus items, with a strong emphasis on e-commerce through its popular auction portals.
